Frequency of Vitamin B12 Deficiency Amongst Elderly Patients Presenting with Dementia

Background: A persistent and chronic illness called dementia is associated with cognitive decline, changes in personality, poor thinking, problems executive function. Various studies linked vitamin B12 deficiency the elderly patients. Objective: To find out frequency of amongst patients presenting Methodology: The current study was descriptive cross-sectional carried at Medicine Department, Fauji Foundation Hospital, Peshawar Cantt for duration six months from January 2022 to June 2022. All data like age, sex other relevant information were recorded pre-designed Performa. IBM SPSS version 23 used statistical analysis data. Results: In study, totally 250 enrolled. There 188 (75.2%) males 62 (24.8%) females mean (±SD) age 81 (±2.99) years. Vitamin observed 95 (38%) while it not 155 (62%) Based on stratification level serum gender, no significant association (p˃0.05). Conclusion: we that B 12 elder 38%. Other multiple centers large number should be get better results. Key words: deficiency; Elderly patients; Dementia
